Gift Yourself Some Laughs This Holiday Season! (Self Care Notes)
I am not going to go over how one does not need to be a Christian to enjoy the holiday season, or how one does not have to be a believer to simply enjoy life. We are all slaves of the capitalist system, and this is the time of the year when multi-national companies with headquarters in the western countries and their big clients, who also mostly reside in the western countries, decide to give their employees some much-deserved rest, so we all hopefully get some solid rest this time of the year.
Allow me to dedicate this piece to my best friend, who works like hell round the year (and we both think it’s the other’s life that is sadder, which gives both of us some energy to push ourselves through the day! 😉). This is a collection of funny scenes from my list of personal favourites. Hope you would enjoy these as well. And leave your favourites in the comments section, too, so all of us can exchange some jokes and enjoy some laughs.
If you are a fan of The Big Bang Theory (TBBT), you would enjoy these:
- Howard dresses up as Sheldon, and Sheldon and Amy seek revenge
- Sheldon irritate everyone else and the rest of them compete against Sheldon in a Physics bowl contest
- Sheldon enjoys as Amy insults all his friends, but when she insults him, too, the two decide to break up (the neuroscience vs theoretical physics is my most favourite TBBT episode of all!)
- None of us understand why Leonard tolerates Sheldon, why he simply does not cut off and leave, so we get an explanation in this episode.
In my opinion, as a devout fan of rom-coms, I would say that The Proposal is one of the best rom-com movies ever. And this is a super-funny scene where Margaret (Sandra Bullock) and grandma Annie (Betty White) sing and dance in the forest in circumstances that neither of them saw coming! 😂
For context, these two are polar opposite personalities: grandma Annie is a free-spirited, jolly, happy-go-lucky, talkative 89-year-old woman born and brought up in a small town and Margaret is a workaholic, toxic boss of a lady, who is very introverted, highly private, very uptight woman, who is extremely picky about everything in her life. Both of these are also two of Hollywood’s best actresses till date, and this scene is hilarious!
If you love innocent little kids and Steve Harvey’s expressions, maybe you would enjoy this one, too. I certainly did!
If you would like the story of a geek trapped in a pathetic company with a toxic manager, some superpowers, and a new-found love interest, then maybe you should watch Chuck. Watch at least the 1st season! That scene where the boss “Big Mike” says, “I couldn’t give a rodent’s behind about this job!”, I laughed out LOUD! What an innovative way of saying “rat’s ass”! 🤣🤣🤣
Not as funny as Margaret and Grammy, but yes, Chuck and Casey are a funny pair of polar opposites, too, both working as spies for the US government. Well, one (the brave one) chose to work in this field, and the other one (the cowardly, geeky one) accidentally ended up as a spy!
Some of these scenes are really funny, too!
And only recently, I came to know about the super funny stand-up comedian Ronny Chieng — this one is a must watch!
And non-Tamilians often draw a blank when I say Tamilians are some of the funniest species on the planet. If you happen to be a Tamilian, this one is a classic! 🤣🤣🤣
