My 2022 KCON Recap
If I could name a Top 5 moment, it would be my weekend at KCON LA 2022.
Unfortunately, that does not mean I got scouted by an entertainment company, but the experience was unmatched by any other convention or concert I have been to.
Here are 3 reasons why KCON is now my favorite convention.
- Literally… All. The. Free. Stuff.
As you walk to the second floor of the convention center, you enter a wonderland of K-beauty, food vendors, interactive dance floors, and small souvenirs. Going booth to booth, I collected a unique variety of high-quality face cleansers, face masks, toners, lip tints, headbands, and small snacks!
2. The crowd
I have been to plenty of festivals and conventions, but one of the best things about KCON was its inclusive and diverse crowd. Since this was an all-ages event, it was so engaging to see people of all ethnic backgrounds come together to appreciate Korean culture and bond over music and activities. Thousands of fans dressed up head to toe in outfits and makeup inspired by their favorite idols.
One booth you could not skip out on was the Toyota GR Music Garage. The DJ would play mixes of everything from second-gen K-Pop to a recently released song. Without fail, fans would dance to each song, for hours straight.
3. Getting out of my comfort zone by going alone!
KCON is a great place to come out of your shell and interact with complete strangers who share your interests. I found it easy to spark conversations about our favorite artists and performances.
On Saturday, I headed to the concert alone. This was my first K-pop concert, so I did not know what to expect, but I had so much fun screaming and dancing next to other fans.
The best part of my night was sitting next to the artist tunnel and seeing all the idols within five feet of where I sat. I was utterly and completely starstruck every time someone passed by and waved back to me! It was my Y/N moment that came to life.
My entire KCON weekend felt like a dream, and the concert was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Would I go back next year? In a heartbeat.
