Ox Yoke Lake in Backus, MN

A copper basin
Waters from the Source
from the confluence
from the crossings
All connected

Long skirts to bless
and be blessed by the grasses
Eagle staff on their left

The humility of Water is its power
The prayers of the Grandmothers
Every step
Every song
is Love

Nibi Gee Zah-gay-e-goo
Gee Me-gwetch-wayn ne-me-goo
Gee Zah Wayn ne-me-goo

Water, we love you
We thank you
We respect you

Grandmothers, women and children
Brave and full of a love
that mirrors the Water’s
They walk the Line
Superior to Grand Forks
Every step a prayer
for Nibi
for every river and stream
every lake and wetland
for every wild rice bed and every drop of precious rain
Water is Life
They walk for all of us

Today, I pray with the Nibi Walkers
Today, I will sing to the Water where I am

Asemaa

Humble, generous Water
I love you
Thank you
It is our honor to protect you

Today, when you turn on the tap, when you drive over a river or next to a lake or pond, say thank you to the Water. Pray with and for the water and Nibi Walkers currently walking the entire line (Follow their story at nibiwalk.org)
