Child-like Wonder

This is the second part of a 4-part series on living a Passionately Curious life; I promised to share 3 simple ways that you can start to practice curiosity in your day to day l ife.

As children, we are filled with wonder and curiosity, and we’re practically fearless to try new things. As we get older and start collecting experiences, our instinct to explore is tempered by our desire to conform.

We stop asking questions because we fear that it makes us look stupid.

We stop putting ourselves in positions where we feel uncertain because we’re afraid of being vulnerable.

Children are not only innocent and curious but also optimistic and joyful and essentially happy. They are, in short, everything adults wish they could be.
~ Carolyn Haywood

In my line of work, I often encounter women who are nervous about adding colour to their wardrobes. They love a piece but hesitate, afraid that they could never pull it off, or afraid to get it wrong.

These same women were not afraid to wear lime green rubber boots paired with yellow striped pants and a floral pink jacket when they were children.

At we purposefully defy conservatism with bold prints and bright colours.

While you don’t have to go all-out like the rainy day ensembles of your childhood ( and weren’t they awesome?!), I encourage you to indulge your playful side and go beyond your comfort zone. Play with colour, it won’t bite! LOL

There is something about color that can make you feel alive, wild, and confident. Don’t get too stuck in mundane clothing choices. Open yourself up to the possibility of adding a little color in your life and leave yourself room to experiment.

You can tease in colour through accents like belts, scarves, and jewelry — our Accents Collection offers a great selection.

Or better yet, jump in with both feet and step out with bold and colorful Msichana’s clothing, perfect for exploring and expressing your creativity.

If you’re flailing around looking for the right colour to bring out your colour, before you throw in the towel and decide to hide in neutrals, schedule a consultation with me, I would be overjoyed to help!

As Antoine de Saint-Exupéry said in The Little Prince: “All grown-ups were once children… but only few of them remember it.”

A little childlike wonder can go a long way in finding the bright side of life. So, start today and try to look at life through a child’s eyes. Smile. Be kind. Be fearless.
