Do you know when your heart will stop beating?

Thump. Thump. More than a beat a second. What do you know? It might just decide one day, I’m done.

I ask myself, then why wait?

Waiting. One of the worst situations you can get yourself into. You don’t know how much, you don’t know for how long. But you still wait and it wastes those beats that your heart worked so hard for.

Everyone’s waiting for something.

You’re waiting for a special occasion to open a wine. Or you’re still in a conundrum to see your family whom you used to hate. You’re waiting until thirty-five to see the world. You’re waiting for that special day to get together. You’re waiting for that day when you’ll publish that book of yours. You’re waiting for the one right reason to make you continue.

Someone’s waiting for the right time to say, ‘I’m sorry’. Someone else is waiting for the right moment to say, ‘I do’.

For us, mere mortals, we don’t get to have forever. Forever isn’t too long away though. It just begins the moment after your heart stops beating.

That day might just be tomorrow. Or the day after.

Everything will outlive us. Maybe everyone too. You don’t get to choose who to grow old with. You can just choose who you want to live with. You don’t get to choose when to quit something. You just get to choose when you want to start something new.

Everyone around you lays the groundwork for you to accomplish something today. You just need to take it all in and get started. For real. For you don’t get nothing without starting and you won’t have something when you don’t start. Today.

Do yourself a favor. Do that something you’ve been putting off. You don’t need to do it right. You just need to do it. And then see what happens. You might just be surprised. And in the end, it might not matter if it was good, but it would that you did it. Just once.

Toast to the ones you have today. You don’t know who you’ll lose on the way. Start with little things. Start with the things you know and love. Build something special with someone. Take the first step. You’ll be surprised how easy it’ll become to take the second one.

Say a bit more than you really would. Smile a second more than you usually do. Express a little more than what you feel is enough. It might make your day a little brighter or your nights a little less lonely.

You don’t know what time will be right? Start making now the right one. If time doesn’t wait for you to get ready, you don’t want to wait for it to be right.

Live each beat of your heart like you don’t know if the next one’s gonna come. Make sure your moment is not lost in waiting for forever.
