Analytical Reading Reflection

In order to understand and retain the information being presented in scholarly reading material, you must be able to read the material effectively. Identifying ¨sign posts¨ such as topic sentences which typically lay out the authors´ main arguments, and the evidence used to support them is an important analytical reading skill. It´s also crucial to be as objective as possible while using analytical reading skills; keep in mind that authors are human, and may sometimes present inaccurate information, or ¨incoherent¨ arguments.
