  1. The purpose of this author is that he does not like the colored people. He asks for help in the removal of these people because he claims, “[there a] grave menace to the peace of that section of state.” he claims that it's a violation of the law and that the colored people need to be removed.
  2. Many letters have been sent in the past year talking about the 24th infantry. They keep talking about how the “colored” people are a grave menace to the peace. When we had a thorough investigation, all officers welcomed everybody as long as they met their requirements for the 24th infantry. As of February of 1921, it was discovered that most of the village of Columbus is filled with bootleggers, prostitutes, thieves, and sellers of cocaine. All these people gathered here since the days of the villa raid and since the advent of the 24th infantry have been mostly of the colored race.
  3. Some obstacles while writing this narrative are that there's not enough documentation to fully understand what's happening at this time because we historians weren’t there.
  4. This exercise really helped me know what archival research would look like. This also showed me what the primary sources should relatively look like.
