As I think back to when the pandemic first started I didn’t really realize how severe it was. I rarely look at the news and stay up to date with what’s going on in society, because am so busy with my present. Until one day I went to the store and saw the majority of the shelves were empty and I got this scary feeling of “what is going on?” After that nothing really changed for me I continued going to work and obviously wore a mask and followed all safety guidelines. As for family, the only thing that changed was my husband was working more because he is an essential worker, and my fear of him getting COVID increased as the situation got worse. Since he is a firefighter and EMT he would tell me stories of families panicking and he would see the fear in their eyes because they thought they had COVID, in reality, they had other medical issues. When the pandemic first started and how things are going now I think people twenty years from now will know the fear that people felt due to COVID and how insanely people react when they feel fear. I am not sure who will know my story, because I just continued to live my life as normal as I could even though there was a pandemic. I continued to teach and care for little ones while their parents went to work and exposed themselves because they had to bring food to their table and their families. I believe everything we did and doing now matters because we are trying to move on with our lives in a world of fear of getting sick. We are trying to go over obstacles that in society some agree to and others may not. COVID will definitely be a big event in history, I just hope that we are able to overcome it and be able to enjoy life.
