For when I read the foundations of analytical reading, I found two of the analytical reading strategies that I believe to be crucial for reading historical work. The first analytical reading strategy that stood out to me is looking for reputable online sources. The second analytical reading strategy that stood out to me is paying attention to visual information. The reason why these strategies stand out to me in particular because when you look at the details and visuals behind any historical work, you always make sure the information is mainly current and accurate. As far as online source, I believe it is important to recognize the source depending on where it is from and it has to be reliable. As far as visual information, I also believe it is important to study the visual information behind any historical work,

Those strategies support my ability to evaluate the 5C’s of historical thinking mainly context by addressing the fact that it shows that any kind of historical work that you read, visualize, and analyze has context. People will have the opportunity to interpret and understanding evidence that backs up any historical work that people argue about. It gives people to think about the connections between the representation of the past and the critical thinking of the past that comes with any historical work we analyze. It has to be based on getting variety of sources and making sure the information is accessible and understandable. The reason why close analytical reading is important to historical thinking is because the claims of the historical work may not be accurate yet based on the information that is supported by it. I think based on the fact that the claims of the historical work is getting the supported based on the past. I think that it is the main reason why it is important to historical thinking.

When I read the Nash article, I think the struggles I faced as I attempted to apply close reading skills to the article is that I was having a hard time to figure out what is the main idea or theme that is behind the article. As I read the whole article, I was also looking at certain detail that has some context that will help find the main idea and it really did not catch up to me. The problem was I was looking at one focus of the information. I was fast reading through it and getting more notes on it. I think the resources that might help me become more proficient at reading critically is the Analytical reading from ch. 1 and ch. 2. I would need to ask important questions as I read. I would need to think about how to ask the right question as I read any historical work critically. I would also need to engaging with the text and analyze it through. To become more proficient at reading critically, I would need to make my own assumptions when I read any historical work.

For me, I have my thoughts on using hypothesis for the class. My thoughts are that hypothesis is such a important source to analyze and study documents that are online. It is also a important source for analyzing articles in a way for people to take notes. When it comes to highlighting important parts of the text, I really liked that feature of hypothesis. It is such a great way to start conversation. I think that a way to use hypothesis effectively in the class is by looking at others annotations and try to have a conversation. I think that is the only way that will help the classmates communicate and have a conversation on hypothesis.
