This feature by Lee Jenkins from Sports Illustrated delves into the life and persona of Jimmy Butler.

The story quickly reveals the background of Jimmy Butler, who saw a long road of struggles before making it to the NBA.

It also delves into the relationship with Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau, who coached Butler when he was with the Chicago Bulls.

Jenkins breaks down that despite being in a very tough Western Conference, Butler stands out on the Timberwolves. His tough demeanor and long background created through past struggles made him battle-tested. That mental strength goes a long way in what seems to be a wild Western Conference playoff race.

Overall, I agree with most of Jenkins’ points. He used the background of Butler to describe who he is now. However, I disagree with his point about the Timberwolves being a team that can compete with the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets.

The Timberwolves are a good team, but Jenkins definitely exaggerates how good of a team they can be. However, he is spot on with his depiction of Butler.
