This month, William Guillory wrote a feature on Pelicans big man Emeka Okafor for The New Orleans Times-Picayune on nola.com.

The story is a feature about Okafor’s road back to the NBA, as he had not played in a game since April 2013. A herniated disc in his neck derailed an injury-plagued career, and this was an obvious and interesting story that needed to be written upon Okafor’s signing.

I enjoyed how it touched on the long process of Okafor’s return and how playing in the G-League helped him achieve his goal of getting back into the NBA. However, I feel like there was a lot of untapped potential in this story regarding Okafor’s mindset while he was away, his emotions when he got the call about being signed again and his overall emotional roller coaster during his road back to playing.
