10 Good Choices, 10 words or less

List #23- Eating or Exercise?

All of list this will have to do with eating, food and the choices we make when deciding what to eat First it was sugar free so we replaced the real sweet stuff with chemicals, then we went fat free, then carb free, now gluten free, etc. It is as maddening as a skipping record, CD or garbled down load. Will we ever learn that just one highly focused approach won’t work? Changing food science, confusing public service campaigns combined with the mixed media messages about what “is “and “isn’t” good for us has us spinning. Yo-yo dieting, losing weight and gaining it back is a 90% plus occurrence. You must change your habits for a lifetime to have lifelong affects. Just like exercise, you must always be doing some form of it. The great difference between eating and exercise is that we eat 21-30 meals and snacks a week and only exercise 3-5 times a week. If you made good choices at every meal, you are making improvements to your body four to five times as often. If you do them together, results jump even more.

1. Don’t go on a diet! Change your diet!

2. Plate = 4 equal sections, 1 protein, 2 veggies, 1-quality carb.

3. Slow down when eating- Set fork down between each bite.

4. Eat food that comes from a farm, not a factory.

5. Add colorful veggies and leafy greens to every meal.

6. Eat only when hungry, not just because it is meal time.

7. Learn to cook- Add 3 healthy meals to your repertoire.

8. Don’t justify bad choices, earn treat meals instead.

9. Reduce your current portions by a 1/3 or half.

10. Eat for living, not for the other option!
