List #22-Blue Zones


With list 22 we will embrace the work of Dan Beuttner and his study of longevity in the “Blue Zones” of Earth. These are places where people live to be 100 years old with a much greater frequency than the rest of the world. The first 5 blue zones are Sardinia, Italy, the islands of Okinawa, Japan, Loma Linda, California, Icaria, Greece and the Nicoya Península, Costa Rica.We start with Dan calls the Power 9.

1. Move naturally -walk like sheep herders, farmers, and laborers.

2. Know your purpose Find your reason to wake each day.

3. Downshift- Shed stress, nap more, have the right life outlook.

4. 80% rule-Hara Hachi Bu- Stop eating before you’re full.

5. Plant slant- Eat locally grown food and little meat.

6. Wine at 5-relax and socialize with friends.

7. Put Family first, marry respect and live with elders.

8. Belong- find social groups, care, be involved, be enriched.

9. Right tribe- in community, in faith, connect and share

10. Live a simple, clean, reflective, fulfilling, strong willed 100 years.
