10 good choices, 10 words or less

List #19

American culture is built upon personal freedoms, liberties and choices but when it comes to healthy living, those endless choices and options can overwhelm us, trick us and misguide us. Create structures or cues that trigger healthy responses rather than giving yourself too many options or choices. Do you stop at “stop” signs at 3 am when no cars are coming? I bet you do not because it is the law but because it is an automatic response to a cue. Not an option.

1. Decide you want to be healthy.

2. Find a health plan with rules you like, follow it.

3. If eating out, make your healthy decision before you go.

4. Be a Copycat, eat what healthy people eat.

5. Hang out with healthy people, do what they do.

6. Choose a vegetable and build a meal around it.

7. Put on your walking shoes every day and walk.

8. Don’t buy candy or sweets.

9. If you know you shouldn’t do something, don’t do it!

10. Choose to avoid negative unhealthy choices.
