A Journey Through Celestial Portals with Artist Naudline Pierre
Naudline Cluvie Pierre (b. 1989) recently made an unforgettable mark on the art work with her recent solo exhibition at New York Cityโs James Cohan Gallery, entitled ๐๐ฏ๐ต๐ฆ๐ณ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ฎ. In ๐๐ฏ๐ต๐ฆ๐ณ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ฎ, Pierre transports us to an alternate universe populated with jewel-toned celestial figures that fill her scenes with dance and exultation. Her bold, large-scale compositions are impassioned and emotional vaguely recalling hints of Chagall yet with more dynamism and fervor. Pierreโs mastery of her skill can be understood to be rooted in historical nostalgia and history, however her identity and experience firmly grounds her in the contemporary canon of empowered women artists and storytellers. Throughout the exhibition she explored an exquisite and extensive tale of becoming and the transformative process of striving for new heights. Leading into the Summer season, this was a clearly one of the most breathtaking exhibitions weโve seen.
๐ช๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ฒ ๐น๐ผ๐๐ฒ โข Thematics of spiritual and religious identity are at the forefront of Naudline Cluvie Pierreโs large scale paintings. Her work tells the stories of the vibrancy of life and death through bright colors contrasting the black imagery of angels, their wings, and fire. There is a depth to her work, calling us to look upon saviorship as well as the divinity of our love and affection. With themes of salvation and healing, Naudline Pierre brings forward the intensity of life and what comes after.โฃโฃ
