Microsoft Q1 Earnings

Microsoft

Microsoft reported its fiscal first-quarter earnings after the bell on Tuesday, October 25, surpassing expectations on the top and bottom lines, but with cloud revenue lower than expected. The company reported Q1 EPS of $2.35, $0.03 better than the analyst estimate of $2.32, while revenue for the quarter came in at $50.1 billion versus the consensus estimate of $49.86 billion.

“The company has been able to beat both top and bottom line estimates, even in the challenging economic environment where customers are cutting back on their tech spending. With this strength comes weakness in the company’s most profitable business, however — its cloud computing segment — after a remarkable run during the pandemic. If this growth deceleration continues, it could harm an investment case in the company’s stock which is considered a safe-haven amid the market turmoil.”
