Here we demonstrate the deep experience the Investx board has in acquiring, managing, selling, funding, and growing SME and technology businesses, and in agile development and delivery of major B2C software platforms. You can watch and listen to our latest video on YouTube and find out more about our experience below…

Peter Edgar, Chief Executive Officer

Peter Edgar

Prior to leading Investx, Peter was Director, Co-founder and Chief Financial Officer of Oxalis Group Ltd, a UK SME designing and manufacturing CCTV and PAGA systems for installation in hazardous areas. Oxalis was sold to Eaton Corporation (NYSE: ETN) in January 2015, returning shareholders 72X their investment after just under 4 years.

As well as being a founder and Director, and in charge of the company’s finances, Peter notably lead the sell-side due diligence and share sale agreement — which was as thorough as you would expect from a $22Bn New York Stock Exchange listed corporation on the buy-side!

Oxalis started its journey by acquiring Video Marine International, an SME based in the UK, Italy and Singapore and turning over just £3M in 2011.

Under Peter’s co-leadership manufacturing was transferred fully to the UK and at the same time turnover grown from £3M in the year to December 2011 to £5.6M by December 2013, setting up offices and subsidiaries in the US, UAE, France, India and Singapore.

Since then Peter has lead multiple SME buy-side transactions, funding rounds for portfolio businesses and lead growth strategics from board level.

Leon Sloyan, Chief Commercial Officer

Leon Sloyan

Leon in his previous role of Investment Director has been focused on acquisition targeting through his deep SME professional network built through many years in the industry, on direct acquisition approaches and negotiation and on delivering post-acquisition integration and growth strategy to exit.

Examples of Leon’s recent successes include leading the buy and build strategy of Investx portfolio company Integr8 Manufacturing Ltd, (acquired in Jun 2016) with the acquisition of Norman Precision (acquired in Aug 2016). He successfully integrated the two businesses which were spread across three sites into one site in 2017/2018. His strategy helped turn around both businesses into a world class manufacturer turning a combined loss of £0.5M upon acquisition to a business which delivered £0.5M EBITDA in 2018 and forecast EBITDA of £1.2M in 2019.

Before joining Investx in 2016 Leon was a successful SME Banking Relationship Director with Santander and HSBC. He was a top performing Relationship Director at both banks being recognised in the regional ‘professional of the year’ awards on two occasions.

Examples of SME funding packages Leon was responsible for include:

£1.2M funding for digital forensic company CCL Solutions Group (link).

£5.5M funding for automotive thermal/noise reduction company Automotive Insulations (link).

Richard Chambers, Chief Operational Officer

Richard Chambers

Richard brings a wealth of experience of lending to SME’s and Mid-Sized Corporates, both with HSBC Leveraged Finance and Royal Bank of Scotland’s Corporate Transactions Team. Over 14 years he has secured over £500 million in bank funding for private equity-backed businesses.

He has worked on funding proposals for hundreds of businesses, but has experienced first hand the challenges SME’s face in accessing growth capital from traditional lenders, especially in the sub £1m category, where lenders are reluctant to advance funds without full asset security.

High-profile transactions which Richard has led include:

The c. $135m MBO of aircraft tyre manufacturer Dunlop Aircraft Tyres, backed by Liberty Hall Capital Partners (link)

The £16m MBO of SME support services company Optionis Group, backed by MML Capital Partners (link).

The MBO of telecom infrastructure services provider WHP Telecoms Ltd, backed by Equistone (link).

Dave Hewett, Chief Technology Officer

Dave has worked as a Partner at the agile software platform consultancy Equal Experts for the past five years during which time the company has grown by over 500%. As a partner team Dave has been an integral part of the leadership of this company and a driver behind its growth.

Over the course of his career Dave has run large programmes in a diverse set of industries ranging from energy trading, telecoms through to white-label banking platforms and fiat payment solutions. During this time he has built and run large scale consumer products with millions of monthly users, built highly secure products for payment providers and built and lead amazing agile teams that continue to delight their clients.

As an Investx co-founder and board member Dave will be able to bring all the capabilities and strengths of Equal Experts into supporting Investx’s platform and wider product development and delivery using the latest agile and lean techniques (link).
