Those invested in perusal of this Small Tome may inquire as to the Key, or Meaning, of the Spirits presented herein. Know, then, that the Green Grimoire, beyond allowing Communion with its Denizens and Courtiers, instructs the Astute Reader with knowing the Manner and Condition of the Members of the Families of Plants ruled by said Etheric Beings.

By Way of Illustration, consider the Sigil for the Spirit named ATHORNUS, Ruler of the Family known to Science as ROSACEAE. According to the Nature of the Characteristics of ATHORNUS, this Spirit contains the Attributes and Patterns most common to the Members of this Plant Family, which includes Roses, Apples, Hawthorns, Rowan. By meditating on the SIGIL of ATHORNUS, We may discern the following Knowledge of this Family:

The FIVE SWORDS surmounted by the SUN suggest the five Petals and five Sepals surrounding Multitudinous Stamens and Styles common to the Flowers of this Family. The Swords additionally indicate the Thorns found upon many of the Rose Family’s Limbs. The jagged Serration upon the Lightning Bolts reminds us of the serrated Leaves of the members of this Court, while the Mouth serves as a Device to bring to Mind the Edible Nature of most common Rosaceae members.

The STAG, the form of the Spirit, symbolizes this Court’s WILD ORIGINS, and the Fruit extended from its Antlers as a Delight demonstrates the useful and happy Cultivation of ATHORNUS’ Court.

So do all of the Spirits in this Grimoire describe the Members of their Courts in the Nature of the Fractal, where the small Pattern allows the Studious to uncover the Pattern of the Whole. Thusly, knowing the Nature of the Sigils will allow the Student to identify the Members of the Court governed by the Spirits whose Signatures they describe.
