Whether or not Nestlé knew who the other offer was from, or technically did or didn’t “outbid” that other buyer is not the important question.

For me, the important question people should be asking is:

Why is a municipality being put in a position in the first place to have to compete for control of clean local drinking water with a major international corporation? How is that fair or just?

This situation should not be possible in the first place, whether or not Nestle believes its actions to be justifiable within the realm of contract and Canadian environmental law.
