Dream Tending: Why I Love It and How It Empowers My Wholeness

I used to think dream tending, like sleep dreams, was a bit “out there.” But I’ve been engaging with my dream work practice for over two years now, and I’m so excited to write about it.

At this point, I feel thoroughly convinced about the value and validity of exploring dreams as a key part of the self-actualization process.

Psychoanalyst Carl Jung believed dreams convey important messages from our subconscious. I often tap into unexpectedly intense emotions during dream tending. My subconscious mind seems to support my soul’s expansion by sending the right dreams at the right time.

In July 2020, I participated in a dream-tending workshop with Dr. Stephen Aizenstat, founder of the dream-tending approach. I felt thrilled to connect with this depth psychology community and even got to work through a dream with Aizenstat during the workshop.

I felt surprised by the pointed truths embedded in my dream and cried in front of nearly 100 strangers — a wild thing for me to do at that point in my healing journey. I even chose a “light-hearted” dream about…
