Music has immense potential to therapeutically impact us. Melodies, rhythms, and lyrics can orchestrate a vast array of feelings and influence a shift in our mindsets.

Research by John Hopkins Medicine reiterated that listening to music can significantly reduce anxiety, pain, and blood pressure. The benefits of music are too numerous to list here, but at minimum we know it improves sleep, mood, alertness, and memory.

Music can influence our state of mind and thoughts across a diverse spectrum. It can soothe, energize, calm, motivate, move, and transform us.

There was never a day in my childhood that I did not listen to, sing, or experience some form of music. Often, any natural silence was filled with music within my family dynamic. Sharing a bedroom with my little sister who had insomnia and attention deficit hyper disorder, most nights I was also subject to listening to whatever songs she chose to self-soothe on our cassette…
