My sanctuary | #5
Seven tables. 15 seats. Pastries line one half of the counter display while cans & bottles fill up the other.
Three panels hang from behind the counter on the wall, showing the menu.
Cushions liven up the otherwise dull wall bench, which contributes to a third of the available seats.
Neatly arranged in a corner is a table with the often overlooked amenities of most cafés: a water dispenser, glasses, utensils & tissue paper.
A display rack resembling a ladder is stacked with coffee bags, tea boxes & plants.
Images of the farms & people responsible for producing the wonderful coffee & tea served here line the upper half of the white brick walls.
A mixture of hipster, geometric & hemisphere shaped lamps hang from the ceiling, giving off a relaxed ambience.
A giant round sign reads ‘WORLD CLASS CERTIFIED COFFEE • SINGLE ESTATE • 100% STRICTLY HARD BEAN’ with a design of a farmer in the middle of the sign.
Finally, about a metre or two to its right there is the entrance; a two-door entrance topped off with polished steel handles.
A sanctuary for me. A place of comfort, creation & peace.
