Religion is intimate. We might like to think it’s about ideas and texts, but it’s about bodies, about touch. This poem traces how the tactile and the intimate erupted into a sacred spaces that I thought I’d understood. “Get Close” was first published, in a slightly different version, in Burnside Review.
