Day 4

  • Building Augur — Lessons Learned. We really enjoy the talks focused on personal or group experiences. There is always something to share and learn. Augur as prediction market platform, has local client, that instead querying for all the data, stores locally the information, on a structured and indexed database, to gather data with more accuracy and performance. That brings a lot of challenges, starting with log syncing, via proper nodes. INFURA etc. Web3 is a rpc layer or a query language? How we deal with empty blocks answers? It was funny to see that a given time they used cryptokitties as a way to know if the logs where on sync… the have found a way to go forward, working with other projects, solving syncing issues. They are quite focused on projects like ethql, plugging to web3 a real query language

Ethereum ETL + BigQuery was also mentioned but its not useful to their use case.

  • Parity bridge. Bridging the ÐApp: contracts talking across chains. Approaches to sidechains are focused mainly on POA. Strategies: Proper custom sidechain, federated ones or kovan based. Quite interesting project. A nice concept is to have side chain, with your own custom token as gas price handler / native coin instead eth. As mentioned on previous days, our Virtue Poker colleagues selected another approach, due parities lack of support answers to bugs.

Some time with adhara guys. Our companies are quite related and we have components, and projects in common.

We talked about bullet proofs, zk-snarks , zokrates, quantum proofs, shamir keys, swarm pss, swarm act, our em-token standard approach, gray zone on dapps development and private blockchains, team building, clovyr due some chat with the people behind this project ( seems ethql related) … and lot more

Good things ahead!

Bye bye prague! A lot of information gathered, and the bag is full of power, energy, networking, learnings, topics to review and stickers + tshirts for all the job mates that couldn`t come.

We are looking forward to devcon5!!!
