This week, Iomob CEO Boyd Cohen, Ph.D. took centre stage at Mobile World Congress hosted by Mobile World Capital in Barcelona, speaking about Blockchain Cities and the smart cities mobility blockchain solution Iomob.

The parallel session entitled Where emerging tech meets government: blockchain and AI featured panelists Fabro Steibel Executive Director, ITS Rio; Christina Patsioura Senior Analyst, GSMA Intelligence; Agnes Budzyn Managing Director, ConsenSys; Ulises CortésAI Research & Institutional Relations, Barcelona Supercomputing Center; natalia olson-urtecho Co-Founder, The Disruptive Factory; and Josep M Monti Founder and CEO of Atry and thebitcoin.cafe. Pipo Serrano, Journalist and Head of Digital Strategy, Broadcaster, moderated the panel.

The panellists discussed:

Emerging technologies such as blockchain and AI offer multiple opportunities to improve public services. Yet the breakneck speed at which they are transforming society, and the dynamism of the markets they fuel, mean that policymakers have little time or space to clearly articulate the conditions for a successful tech-driven society. In this breakout session, participants will explore the challenges and opportunities of emerging tech in the public sector, and how they envision a more coherent, relevant and updated future of public services in the digital era.

Next up on the agenda for Boyd was a related MWC event, a Fireside chat hosted by IoT Stars, the Barcelona pitch competition, in a session called The Future of the Internet of Things.

Iomob was also present representing successful Wayra accelerator participants, at stand 110, alongside 4YFN, Humanising Autonomy, Share&Charge, Unmanned Life, and MODULARITY GRID among others. It was a massive week for our leadership team! We are grateful for all the opportunities and connections we received.

Couldn’t be there in person? That’s OK — here’s a short clip of Boyd presenting Iomob’s tech solutions from the event on our Facebook page. Don’t forget to take the poll!
