We have quite a bit going on at Iomob these days with 2 pilots, our ongoing involvement in 2 accelerators and we just completed the demo day at Wayra UK as well.

Iomob has been in different stages with 3 different accelerators. The first we entered was Wayra UK/Transport Systems Catapult Intelligent Mobility accelerator which was a non-residency and non-equity accelerator focused mostly on encouraging Proof of Concepts (PoCs) with their transport partners. Boyd Cohen, Ph.D. CEO IoMob was present to give our final pitch there at Wayra Demo Day 2019. Check it out:

Understanding Wayra

Wayra UK is an entrepreneurship and innovation-focused accelerator that helps to identify, develop, promote and scale UK-based startups. It is funded and founded by Teléfonica, as part of Teléfonica Open Future — a global corporate accelerator network with hubs spread across Europe and South America.

It was back in August of 2018 when Wayra selected Iomob as one of the 25 winners of their Intelligent Mobility Accelerator Programme. It is safe to say that a long time has passed since August of 2018, and as such, many developments have occurred between Iomob and Wayra, and as well as within Iomob itself (more on that later).

First, let’s take a look at why Wayra’s role is important in the development and launching of Iomob’s vision. As a mobility startup accelerator, Wayra has so far had a total of 119 pilot trials and contracts in the United Kingdom, 10 of which are running at the moment.

More important to note, however, is that 40% of accelerated startups have gone on to raise up to $1m in follow-up 3rd party funding! These are the kind of statistics which make Iomob feel honoured to be a part of such a well-respected and successful accelerator programme.

The Pitch

In more recent news, Wayra UK has just held an Intelligent Mobility Demo Day in Guildhall, London where 10 amazing mobility startups took turns pitching their product (each startup had 3 minutes of pitch-time).

For this event, we had none other than the leader of the pack, Boyd Cohen, to deliver. And deliver he did! Iomob’s pitch was highly regarded in the eyes of investors, as it piqued interest and curiosity, as well as lifting the overall mood of the room (and undoubtedly setting a high bar for the remaining pitches). I know, because I was there.

Don’t miss the phenomenal pitch for yourself:

P.S. Many thanks once again to Colin Black from Arcadis for introducing Iomob on stage! It is a great honour.

Most startups went to this event in order to raise funding and deliver their vision/product to the masses. iomob.net is no exception. However, given the award-winning pitch given above, we can say that we at least like our chances…

Fin

And finally, to summarise, the event was a smashing success. Iomob continues to steamroll ahead with its plans and continues focusing on building its protocol. The rest of the team in Amsterdam remain focused on the task at hand, which is delivering a pilot of Iomob in both Pittsburgh and Barcelona, thanks to Ford’s City of Tomorrow Challenge and Renfe!

And to finish off here’s an update from Boyd Cohen himself, at London’s Guildhall:

About us:
Iomob is working to decentralize and build the Internet of Mobility, by incentivizing and facilitating the use of alternative transport. By using the blockchain, Iomob plans to minimize fees and allow mobility providers and end-users alike to connect on a peer-to-peer basis. In their own words: Iomob is “a system which produces a useful output at the lowest possible marginal cost.”
