On June 8, 2020, the IOST team officially released Olympus v3.3.4 update for the IOST mainnet.

As the most important underlying infrastructure of a public chain ecosystem, the mainnet’s performance determines its development. In more than a year since the mainnet launch, the IOST development team has maintained an innovative attitude and has updated and optimized its versions frequently.

The keywords for the newly released v3.3.4 of the Olympus are Security and Ease of Use. Improvements such as harsh code audits and improved information logs have greatly improved the security and usability of the IOST mainnet.

Optimizations in Olympus v3.3.4:

1. Security Update

IOST is working with an internationally renowned blockchain security team to perform code audits that will be introduced in the future reports. We remain committed to improving the security of the mainnet, which includes not only the security of account and funds but also the availability of the network.

This update improves the availability of the mainnet. We have fixed the issue of unstable network performance during certain carefully constructed malicious transactions.

2. Ease of use

While helping some node operators to solve technical problems, we found that there are relatively common technical difficulties when nodes are upgraded to Servi (Block producing) status, and often need detailed guidance.

In this update, we have added a log with useful information. In the future, whether the node does an error analysis itself or with the help of the IOST team, the problem(s) will be located faster.

3. Code upgrade

IOST default code version has been upgraded to Golang 1.14.

IOST is committed to building a developer-friendly public chain platform. In the future, IOST will continue to innovate and continue to upgrade and optimize the mainnet, bringing more powerful underlying infrastructure support and good development experience to all mainnet ecosystem users.

From here, we would like to express our gratitude to the IOST development team and developers from all over the world for their unremitted efforts and also welcome developers to join our developer community.
