IOST Mainnet Olympus v3.3.6 was officially released with security and code factoring updates.

As the most important underlying infrastructure of a public chain ecosystem, the mainnet’s performance determines its development. In more than a year since the mainnet launch, the IOST development team has maintained an innovative attitude and has updated and optimized its versions on a frequent basis. The keywords for the newly released v3.3.6 of the Olympus are Security and Code Refactoring.

Optimizations in Olympus v3.3.6:

1. Security Update

Fixed the bug that could let a large number of malicious constructs using BigInt64Array in virtual machines exhaust the virtual machine pool, which makes the node unable to execute transactions and neither synchronize.

2. Code Refactoring

More golangci-lint options have been opened, and 19 sub-linters have been added.

In addition, IOST will release Olympus v3.4.0 in the near future. For the next version, the technical team has the following plans:

  • Add incremental Merkle hash to the block header to facilitate light nodes to verify transactions and facilitate the cross-chain implementation
  • Upgrade golang version
  • Upgrade main dependent versions, such as libp2p and grpc

IOST is committed to building a developer-friendly public chain platform. In the future, IOST will continue to innovate and continue to upgrade and optimize the mainnet, bringing more powerful underlying infrastructure support and good development experience to all mainnet ecosystem users. From here, we would like to express our gratitude to the IOST development team and developers from all over the world for their unremitted efforts and also welcome developers to join our developer community.
