IOST Co-CEO Blake joined OKCoin Japan’s YouTube channel for a deep dive into the IOST blockchain with OKCoin Japan’s Richard.

Blake Jeong, who served as CMO of IOST, is now named Co-CEO.

How did you become interested in this industry?

I always wanted to start my own business. This is because I only wanted to change the direction of companies by thinking and implementing my own ideas based on the experience I learned at a consulting firm. This is also why I joined IOST. The mission of the blockchain industry is to decentralize the way we work, and I strongly identified with that.

What contributions did you make before becoming CEO?

Previously, as CMO, I was responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies. With team members in key regions around the world (Japan, Korea, Singapore, Spain, and Vietnam), I helped spread the ecosystem globally and develop the business.

Why is the IOST ecosystem so active?

IOST has a node partner contribution reward system. As a node, you are rewarded for activities that contribute to the IOST ecosystem, including marketing, development, and everything else you do. This was a major factor in the expansion of the IOST ecosystem in the early years.

What were the challenges of expanding the ecosystem and what did you do to overcome them?

Eliminating free riders who try to get rewards for doing nothing. We created the system from scratch by quantifying the activities of contributors.

Why is IOST so popular in Japan?

The Japanese community is the largest in the world within IOST Global. Many engineers in Japan are interested in blockchain, and we have been approaching engineers in Japan through grassroots activities. We have also offered free blockchain workshops at universities. Of course, we have partnered with OKCoin Japan in an effort to expand our community.

About IOST

High fees and slower transaction times on the Ethereum network have left the door open for new solutions to emerge, and IOST is one such project that has been gaining traction since its mainnet launch in 2019.

Backed by significant financial and VC firms such as Sequoia, Matrix, and ZhenFund, IOST is a pioneering decentralized, high-throughput, gas-efficient Proof-of-Believability-powered smart contract platform built to tackle the scalability trilemma once and for all. For this, the concluding ranking from China’s CCID ranked IOST as the best blockchain platform under Basic Technology, better than Ethereum, EOS, and every other smart-contracting platform evaluated by the agency. This is a testament to the quality and ability to roll out a better, innovative product and reflects our genuine desire to be the best in the sphere.

Being one of the public chain leaders in adoption, performance, and utility, IOST remains committed to our mission to unleash the power of blockchain. IOST has an ever-expanding 500,000 members community in over 20 countries, over 400 nodes, a top-tier staking ecosystem, and symbiotic relationships with corporations dotted worldwide.

If you would like to hang out with the IOST community on chat or social media or discuss product development, we have something for everyone:
