IOST Mainnet Voting Guide

Voting is an important self-governance mechanism in the IOST ecosystem. Partners who actively serve IOST communities, contribute codes and participate in governance will get more votes from the community.

With the right to vote, you as a token holder can determine which candidates become Node Partners, elect your preferred Partners to maintain the IOST network, participate in community governance, and even determine the future development direction of IOST ecosystem. IOST hopes to see more community members participate in this process, and as a voter, you are incentivized with generous voting rewards.

The application for the IOST Global Partner Program remains open, and voting will continue into perpetuity.

Mainnet Voting Stage

During the Mainnet Voting Stage, all voters will earn generous voting rewards. Voters will receive 50% of their partner’s rewards for election and contribution rewards.

When Node Partners claim their rewards, voters who vote for these Partners will get their own proportional rewards deposited into their mainnet account directly. This means that all rewards claiming is done by Node Partners, on behalf of their voters. Voters can check in with their chosen Node Partners on rewards claiming, where applicable.

Voting Guidelines

• If you wish to redeem your votes, it takes 3 days*. After redemption, you can vote again. Note that the distribution of rewards will stop once you initiate the vote redemption process.
• Your voting rewards will be deposited into your mainnet account after your chosen Partner claimed their rewards. For more information on how this is done by Partners, please reference: Node Partners - Rewards Claim Guide
• Besides voting rewards, voters are also eligible for contribution rewards. Contribution rewards are paid quarterly and may vary based on your chosen Partner’s level of contributions. For more information, reference: Rewards Distribution Methodologies
• We encourage voters to vote for Partners who are active and make significant contributions, as you can (a) receive more timely rewards and (b) receive more contribution rewards this way.

*On 25th March 2020, IOST updated the staking rules to reduce the unstaking/unvoting period from 7 days to only 3 days

Redemption and Withdrawals

• All rewards from voting and all redeemed votes will be deposited in your mainnet account. You can choose to vote again, trade or withdraw your tokens.

IOST Node Partner Voting is an on-going process and will continue into perpetuity. More community members are welcome to join the IOST Global Partners Program. Voting will not only benefit you but also determine the future of IOST.

At the same time, candidate applications for IOST Partners Program will remain open without deadlines or limitations. We hope that more community members can become IOST partners, participate in the IOST community governance and ecosystem building, receive generous rewards, and together build the future of IOST.
