IOST Ranks #3 in Basic Tech and #5 in the CCID Global Index
On April 10, 2020, the Center for Information and Industry Development (CCID), under China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, released the 17th CCID Global Public Blockchain Technology Assessment Index, comprehensively assessing and ranking 37 well-known public blockchain projects in the world.
In this evaluation period, IOST ranks third in the global basic technology ranking and took fifth place in the overall ranking! IOST moved up a spot in the global ranking compared to the previous period.
CCID started conducting its Global Public Chain Technology Evaluation at the beginning of 2018. It is organized and implemented by CCID (Qingdao) Blockchain Research Institute Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The evaluation work is carried out in collaboration with several organizations, such as CCIDWise network security research institute, China Software Evaluation Center, “Cyberspace Security” magazine, etc. which are updated every two months.
CCID (Qingdao) Blockchain Research Institute is an independent legal entity approved by the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Information Technology and established by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. CCID is an organization specialized in blockchain consulting and technical services and also part of the Secretariat of China Blockchain Ecosystem Alliance.
#5 in the CCID Global Index
In addition to the overall ranking, the CCID center assesses the crypto projects based on three categories: basic technology, applicability, and creativity.
- Basic technology evaluates the technical realization level of the public chain. The main evaluation points include functionality, performance, security, and decentralization. This sub-index weighs 65% of the total index.
- Applicability evaluates the comprehensive level of support for actual applications. The main four aspects are: node deployment, wallet application, development support, and application implementation, this sub-index weighs 20% of the total index.
- Innovation evaluates the continuous innovation of the public chain. The evaluation points include the scale of developers, code update and code influence, this sub-index weighs 15% of the total index.
In the 17th ranking, IOST ranked #5 in the global index by virtue of its first-class basic technology, high-level practical application development, and continuous technological innovation, moving up one spot as from the previous evaluation.
#3 in Basic technology
For basic technology, IOST ranked third with a score of 92.5. This sub-index mainly evaluates the technical realization, functionality, performance, security, and decentralization as described before, categories in which IOST has obvious advantages over other public chains.

Substantial Increase in Applicability sub-index
For applicability, in this period, IOST’s score has increased significantly, ranking 8th globally.
As described before, the level of support for actual applications, node deployment, wallet application, development support, and application implementation is evaluated in this sub-index.
At present, there are more than 400 partner nodes in the IOST mainnet from around 20 countries around the world, that are jointly building a prosperous IOST ecosystem. In addition, IOST has reached in-depth cooperation with mainstream wallets, and the number of mainnet accounts has exceeded 360,000.
For development support, IOST is committed to building a developer-friendly public chain platform.
- IOST’s smart contract uses Javascript language and supports the V8 engine, which directly reduces the difficulty and threshold of contract development, makes the development process smoother, and also provides the possibility for more developers to participate.
- IOST community developers have contributed a series of complete development tools such as plug-in wallets, multi-language SDK, Online IDE, translation of various types of development documents, APIs, etc. to the project through the early-stage developer incentive plan.
In addition, IOST has extensive application implementation experience, we have reached in-depth cooperation with the global drone industry leader EHang, the Japanese government and Japan’s largest state-owned power plant, traditional game manufacturers and top-tier blockchain game teams to accelerate the development of blockchain innovation in the Internet of Things, energy, and blockchain gaming, amongst other fields.
In March 2020, IOST also launched the aircraft carrier plan.
