IOST X University of Zurich Blockchain Center | Deep Dive into Blockchain Education in Europe
In late January 2020, IOST Co-founder Terry and IOST Japan Growth Lead Makoto visited Switzerland after receiving an invitation from the Swiss Ambassador to Japan. While in Switzerland they attended multiple business conferences with influential European organizations. The University of Zurich (UZH) was one of the business partners met during this European trip, and now the IOST Foundation is pleased to announce the first of many events organized by the UZH Blockchain Center which IOST will be part of.
IOST X UZH | First Steps Together
Having been involved in the blockchain sector since 2014, in March 2019 the UZH established a Competence Center on Blockchain. The UZH Blockchain Center’s activities revolve around three basic pillars: research, education, and collaboration. Its mission is to strengthen the positioning of the University of Zurich as a center of expertise in blockchain and to reflect its growing presence in the field. The Center will facilitate knowledge creation and sharing, and networking on blockchain and related technologies.
Today, Professor Claudio Tessone (Ph.D., Co-founder and Academic Director of the UZH Blockchain Center), and IOST Co-Founder Terry Wang have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on data analysis, IOST platform research, and we look forward to wider scales for cooperation and collaboration between the Swiss University and IOST.
As the largest university in Switzerland and the home of many diverse areas of academic study, the UZH demonstrates a unique multidisciplinary approach. Faculties cover multiple subjects including Computer Science, Law, Business, Finance, and Complexity Science. 23 Nobel laureates and 1 Turing Award winner have been affiliated with the UZH as alumni, faculty or researchers.

IOST Co-founder Terry will Lecture at Blockchain Summer School
IOST Co-founder Terry has previously participated in the research and teaching of Algorithms & Data and Distributed Storage Systems at Princeton University. This time, he will lecture at the Blockchain Summer School Program on ‘Deep Dive into Blockchain’, to be held at the University of Zurich Blockchain Center in July 2020.
