Hyperledger is the most widely used consortium chain system in the world. On March 3, 2020, during the first day of Hyperledger Global Forum 2020 — Brian Behlendorf, Executive Director of Hyperledger announced the addition of eight new members, including IOST Enterprise Edition AIOU Technology, the renowned world’s top 500 companies Clear, business giant Conduent and Walmart, amongst other blockchain companies.

The announcement of new members was reported on Hyperledger’s official website and official WeChat Public Account, as well as the famous business magazine Forbes & other famous publications.

What It Means for IOST?

“IOST’s Enterprise Arm- Aiou Technology is glad to join the Hyperledger community,” said Terry Wang, IOST co-founder. “As a company focusing on blockchain technology’s research and development, we are committed to constructing a consortium BaaS (Blockchain-as-a-service) platform and providing professional and targeted blockchain solutions for enterprises and governments. We have accomplished substantial social and economic benefits since the establishment of IOST three years ago, and successfully empowered the real sector with innovative blockchain technology in multiple fields, including anti-counterfeiting traceability, supply chain finance, data assets sharing, and recording. Aiou looks forward to working together with members of Hyperledger to strengthen the community and promote the development of the blockchain industry.”

  • Our focuses on providing professional & targeted blockchain solutions for government and enterprises well aligns with Hyperledger’s mission. Together, we will jointly grow the commercial applications of blockchain technology.
  • Joining Hyperledger has laid a solid foundation for building an efficient commercial network based on blockchain technology in the future.
  • In the future, we will also work with Hyperledger sub-project Fabric to promote the development of distributed ledger technology DLT.
  • IOST can broaden & strengthen the cooperation with Hyperledger members in the pursuit of promotion and development of cross-industry blockchain technology.

Hyperledger Fabric 2.0. X Aiou Technology, to promote the development of DLT

On January 30, 2020, Hyperledger updated its most important subproject, Hyperledge Fabric to v2.0. The new version has improved performance and added 6 main functions, which are indispensable for the development of distributed ledger technology DLT.

  • New chain code life cycle management: Decentralized governance for smart contracts was introduced. Before interacting with the ledger, multiple organizations must agree to the parameters of a chaincode.
  • New chaincode application patterns for collaboration and consensus
  • Private data enhancements: Organizations can now choose to share data privately with specific members of their direct network;
  • New external chaincode launcher: This feature empowers operators to build and launch chaincode with the technology of their choice.
  • New Raft consensus
  • Performance improvements: include parallelization of tasks and more efficient program flow, allowing the network to support thousands of transactions per second.

We believe that Fabric 2.0 is the future and that the continuous cooperation with Hyperledger will bring services with higher data privacy functions, higher performance and decentralized consensus mechanism to more users.

IOST will contribute with our experience in cooperating with government and enterprises and add insightful ideas & discussion to develop DLT with numerous outstanding Hyperledger community members.

About Hyperledger

Hyperledger is led by the Linux Foundation. Founded in December 2015 with 30 initial members, it aims to create a super ledger that enables developers to focus on cross-industry applications, platforms and hardware systems that support business transactions and allow members to work together on user cases from multiple different industries and streamline business processes.

“Adding this great mix of new members and HCSPs is a great opening act for Hyperledger Global Forum,” said Brian Behlendorf, Executive Director, Hyperledger. “Hyperledger is powered by its diverse, global community, and this event is all about bringing Hyperledger users, developers, service providers, and enthusiasts together to reflect on what we’ve accomplished so far and, more importantly, where we can go next. The packed show agenda proves just how much we all have to share and the impact this highly engaged and active Hyperledger community is having on the growth of enterprise blockchain.”

With the continuous research, development, promotion, and popularization of commercial blockchain technology, Hyperledger has turned into a global cross-industry leading cooperation project, including finance, Internet of Things, supply chain, manufacturing, and other diverse technologies.

According to Forbes Magazine’s “Blockchain 50” list, more than half of the world’s large enterprises are deploying on platforms based on Hyperledge blockchain technology. Hyperledger has gradually become an open-source standard for blockchain technology, having a significant impact in the real world. The emergence of Hyperledger validates blockchain technology’s widespread applications & increasing adoption by mainstream enterprises.

Among its over 200 members worldwide, there are Fortune 500 companies such as Accenture, Airbus, Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group, Deutsche Börse Group, IBM, Intel, JP Morgan, Samsung, China Mobile, Huawei, Alibaba, and many other.

Selection process into Hyperledger community

For a project to join the Hyperledger community:

  • A proposal detailing important information such as the objectives, scope, and development plan of the project is required. This proposal will be reviewed and voted by the technical committee before it can enter the community for incubation.
  • After the project is mature, it can apply for the active state, then release a formal version and exit the community.
