Reflecting on 2023, IOST has consistently adhered to its ecosystem development philosophy, emphasizing “innovation, openness, collaboration, and sharing.” The firm commitment to achieving diverse innovation and extensive openness within the on-chain ecosystem” has been at the forefront of IOST’s mission. The collaboration with global communities, strategic partners, and users has been proactive, fostering multidimensional and comprehensive innovation and progress across various facets, including mainnet upgrades, infrastructure enhancements, node partnerships, market expansion, ecosystem growth, and worldwide events.

With the collective attention and support of everyone, IOST has achieved numerous remarkable key moments and celebrated several significant milestones. Now, let’s take a closer look at some of the major accomplishments of IOST in the latter half of 2023.

June 2023, IOST officially unveiled its roadmap for H2 2023

During this period, IOST continued to develop mainnet upgrades, open up more developer-friendly APIs, expand and enhance its multi-chain ecosystem, launch multi-chain solutions, and accelerate the incubation and implementation of projects such as EVM, AI subchains, Web3+AI, RWA, and more.

As of January 5, 2024, data from the IOST blockchain explorer, IOSTSCAN, reveals the following:

  • On-chain block height reached 300 million.
  • On-chain transaction volume exceeded 728 million.
  • On-chain accounts surpassed 820,000.
  • The number of contracts deployed on-chain is 1,412.

Infrastructure

On August 11, 2023, IOST Mainnet Upgrade: A Game-Changer for Users — Wallet Address Creation Now Free!

This program aimed to lower the barriers for users to participate in IOST’s ecosystem and streamline integration development costs for development teams on the IOST blockchain.

On September 6, 2023, the cross-chain bridge Sigma-Bridge was adapted for mobile use.

Sigma-Bridge, developed by IOST node partner Sigma, facilitates fast asset transfers and contract calls between major compatible networks. It was initially created for bidirectional asset conversion between IOST and ETH and is now compatible with other ecosystems, such as IOST and BSC.

On November 7, 2023, iWallet Pro added NFT viewing and sending features

On December 17, 2023, the IOST blockchain explorer underwent an upgrade and was rebranded as “iostscan.com”

Node Partners

August 2023, ChainUp Cloud officially became an IOST ecosystem node partner

ChainUp Cloud, an integrated Web3 infrastructure platform incubated by ChainUp, established a strategic partnership with IOST.

August 2023, IOST entered into a partnership with HG Ventures, a leading Korean venture capital firm specializing in blockchain.

HG Ventures became an IOST ecosystem node partner, aiming to enhance IOST’s international market influence and encourage more high-quality projects to join the IOST ecosystem, furthering the development of incentive incubation programs.

September 2023, HashKey DX officially became an IOST node partner, contributing to the development of IOST’s Web3 ecosystem in Japan

This collaboration aimed to support deep technical development for local businesses in the Web3 space. IOST, in conjunction with HashKey DX, would provide various innovative technical support to Japanese Web3 enterprises, enabling them to innovate and digitally transform under the “blockchain+” framework. The partnership also aimed to enhance people’s awareness of Web3 service security.

December 2023, the Japanese-compliant exchange CoinTrade (Mercury) officially became an IOST ecosystem partner node

The collaboration aimed to enhance the user experience in the cryptocurrency market, create a safer and more user-friendly market environment, drive innovation in digital asset trading, seamlessly integrate traditional points systems with innovative blockchain technology, and facilitate the transition from traditional online platforms to the emerging Web3 space.

Market Expansion

July 7, 2023, the renowned art company Art Group established a strategic partnership with IOST.

Hong Kong-based Art Group joined the IOST ecosystem, and both parties established a strategic partnership. With a focus on areas such as artwork authentication and traceability and the integration and development of Web3 art products and services.

July 2023, IOST officially partnered with Lifty, a leading Web3 gaming platform

August 2023, IOST became part of the Wormhole3 community platform

Users who registered on Wormhole3 could receive wIOST for posting tweets with IOST, and they would receive more benefits on the Wormhole3 platform in the future.

September 2023, IOST entered into a strategic partnership with Cregis.

This partnership aimed to create an ecosystem gateway and offer a safer and more reliable on-chain asset management solution. Cregis, a business-level clearing and settlement infrastructure of the Web3 era, had been in operation for six years, serving over 3,200 Web3 institutions and projects and generating over 5.84 million wallet addresses for end-users.

Ecosystem Developments

July 2023, IOST entered into a partnership with HAVAH and officially became a validator for HAVAH HIIP.

IOST entered into a strategic partnership with the next-generation cross-chain platform HAVAH HIIP (HAVAH Interchain Infra Partners) and became one of its validators.

On July 21, 2023, the cross-chain bridge Sigma-Bridge was officially launched

IOST node partner Sigma officially introduced the cross-chain bridge Sigma-Bridge. In the future, Sigma will gradually expand Sigma-Bridge to Layer2, Optimism, Arbitrum, zkSync, and other high-performance mainstream public blockchains, supporting multiple types of tokens and iteratively developing cross-chain bridges for multi-chain ecosystems.

August 2023, IOST’s two major blockchain services were officially launched on Tencent Cloud.

IOST’s two major blockchain services, NFT service and Blockchain traceability service were officially launched on Tencent Cloud.

  • NFT service focuses on providing one-stop digital brand services, helping users issue exclusive NFTs, digitizing brand IPs, and quickly entering the Web3 NFT field.
  • Blockchain traceability service leverages the core technology advantages of blockchain, such as immutability and decentralization, to provide users with one-stop traceability services, including information input, device management, regulatory reporting, and traceability inquiries.

December 2023, IOST officially collaborated with ecosystem partner Platinum Egg to launch the “Climbers” game-themed IOST Climbing Warrior character

The Japanese Platinum Egg team, known for creating next-generation online games, announced the introduction of IOST warrior characters into their independently developed competitive racing game, “Climbers.” They also organized a battle tournament featuring this character on December 8th and 9th, 2023.

The “Climbers” game had previously won the top award at the Web3 Game Hackathon “ASOBIHACK TOKYO” hosted by Alibaba Cloud.

December 2023, IOST’s blockchain technology was officially used for fragrance ingredient data and membership qualification certification.

The EverSystem team collaborated with aromatherapists to launch an innovative project on the IOST decentralized network — digitizing fragrance/oil blend data (scents). This innovative project provides digital certification and protection for aroma therapy blend data and membership credentials.

December 2023, IOST’s first-ever inscription project, IOSK, officially went live on the IOST blockchain.

The IOST Inscriptios platform, created by the IOSK team, and the first-ever inscription project, IOSK, were officially launched on the IOST blockchain. The formal launch of IOSK aims to further enhance the inscription infrastructure of the IOST public chain, create inscription enthusiasm in the IOST public chain ecosystem, introduce new traffic to IOST, and conduct multimodal tests of the IOST mainnet performance. The IOSK team members have mature development experience and are early participants in the ETH and BTC ecosystems.

December 2023, IOST officially announced its strategic partnership with Platinum Egg and EverSystem to empower the Akita region with emerging digital technologies

IOST officially announced a strategic partnership with Meta Akita, the official derivative company of the Akita Dog Preservation Association, in collaboration with ecosystem partners Platinum Egg and EverSystem. Together, they will deeply cooperate and leverage emerging digital technologies such as blockchain, cloud computing, AI, and XR to empower the Akita region for diversified revitalization and high-quality development of local community economies.

Global Activities

On July 18, 2023, IOST released “iMUXIC” NFT concert tickets and a large IOST limited-time event

IOST collaborated with MUXIC to host the “Love Fund’s 10th Anniversary Charity Concert — MAD SHOW 3 ‘Accidental Encounter with Legends’” at the Star Hall in Kowloon Bay International Trade and Exhibition Center, Hong Kong. They also issued IOST blockchain-based NFT tickets called “iMUXIC.”

On July 25–26, 2023, IOST AI Labs, along with ecosystem partners, participated in the WebX Asia conference held in Japan

During the first day of the WebX conference, IOST, in collaboration with OKCoinJapan, organized an exclusive event for the community, with over 150 community members participating. IOST Co-CEO Blake emphasized the enthusiasm of the Japanese community and pledged to further deepen their presence in the Japanese market.

On August 15, 2023, IOST held the IOST AI Labs Meetup in Dubai

The offline meetup was jointly hosted by IOST, Cypher Capital, Bitunix, and Onecloud in Dubai. The event brought together enthusiasts of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies from around the world. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as “IOST’s Strategic Layout in the AI Era” and established valuable connections.

On August 29, 2023, IOST co-hosted the sixth edition of BIG DEMO DAY in collaboration with Hong Kong Cyberport and Central Research.

The sixth edition of BIG DEMO DAY focused on the development plans for public chains and the WEB3 ecosystem in Hong Kong. During the event, Carter, the head of IOST Hong Kong, shared insights on IOST’s ecosystem development, global compliance strategy, WEB3 innovation advantages, and Web3 case studies with the attendees.

On August 30, 2023, IOST was invited to the “Innovation and Technology Bureau, Cyberport, and Science Park Joint Meeting.”

IOST was invited to participate in a joint meeting organized by the Innovation and Technology Bureau, Cyberport, and Science Park in the Legislative Council meeting room in Hong Kong. During the meeting, Carter, Head of IOST Hong Kong, along with representatives from other technology companies, discussed their observations, thoughts, and recommendations regarding the development of the New Territories Technology City. Carter also delivered an important speech on the topic of “How Technology Companies Can Use Blockchain Technology to Support the Future Development of the New Territories Technology City.”

On September 2, 2023, the “Coffee With Crypto Weekly Meetup” event, supported by IOST, concluded successfully in Dubai

On September 11, 2023, IOST was invited by Boba Network to attend the “Scale — Web3 Meetup” held in Dubai and participated in roundtable discussions during the event.

From September 15 to 20, 2023, the head of IOST’s ecosystem was invited to participate in the Shanghai Blockchain International Week

The head of IOST’s ecosystem attended more than 20 on-site events during the Shanghai Blockchain International Week, meeting with professionals and enthusiasts in the global blockchain and cryptocurrency industry. They also reached cooperation intentions with multiple institutions and project teams.

On September 27, 2023, the seventh edition of BIG DEMO DAY, co-hosted by IOST, was successfully held at Cyberport in Hong Kong.

Carter, Head of IOST Hong Kong, was invited to attend the seventh edition of BIG DEMO DAY, co-hosted by Cyberport and Central Research. During the event, Carter and other representatives discussed the sustainability of Hong Kong’s policies regarding Web3.

On September 28, 2023, IOST launched PoBee the Cosmic Trooper NFT event

With a cutting-edge technological upgrade, PoBee v2.0 is now officially in the interstellar space defending the cosmos. On June 12, 2020, IOST’s official mascot, PoBee, debuted in the global IOST community. After more than three years, its upgrade resulted in a new avatar, carrying the new cosmic trooper suit with the allure of the cosmos

On October 16, 2023, Kylie, IOST’s overseas partner, participated in the “Dubai Future Blockchain Summit

On October 26, 2023, Carter, Head of IOST Hong Kong, was invited to attend the eighth edition of BIG DEMO DAY

The event was co-hosted by Cyberport and Central Research, and engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges with other representatives.

On October 27, 2023, IOST announced its Halloween global event.

The Halloween event invited participants to create IOST-themed Halloween content, offering IOST community members Halloween-themed materials and numerous IOST rewards.

On November 1, 2023, Carter, Head of IOST Hong Kong, was invited to participate in the joint event “Hong Kong Fintech Week 2023 (HKFTW2023)”

In this event, he discussed the impact of the Hong Kong dollar stablecoin and the RWA revolution on the future prospects of Hong Kong’s financial industry.

On November 2, 2023, Carter, Head of IOST Hong Kong, was invited to the “LSEG Digital Asset Leader Lunch”

There, he engaged in in-depth discussions with leaders of the London Stock Exchange Group about the future development direction of digital assets in Hong Kong.

On November 4, 2023, Carter, Head of IOST Hong Kong, was invited to the “Blockchain Technology Exchange and Sharing Session” jointly hosted by the Hong Kong Federation of Science and Technology Alumni Associations and the Hong Kong Youth Talents Association.

At the session, Carter, along with May Liu, Chief Listing Manager of Bybit, and Dylan Lee, Co-Founder of Central Research, shared their experiences and insights, providing participants with an in-depth analysis of cryptocurrencies and Web3.

On November 5, 2023, the “Web3 Blockchain Development Case Roadshow” event, organized by IOST in collaboration with HashKey DX, was successfully held in Nagoya, Japan.

As the two main co-organizers of the event, HashKey DX and IOST are actively committed to promoting the development and support of blockchain-based enterprises/services. They plan to further enhance global ecosystem cooperation and strategic partnerships, emphasizing the importance of cybersecurity in Japanese Web3 services.

November 2023, IOST Co-CEO Blake was invited to serve as a judge for the Jubi Exchange’s 10th Anniversary “Builder Demo Day.”

On December 1, 2023, IOST jointly organized an educational seminar with CRYPTO TIMES, a leading Web3 media platform in Japan, at Akita International University, discussing “Digital Future — Leading Regional Revitalization with Web3.”

In the future, IOST will continue to foster collaboration and contribute to Web3 education and talent development in Japan.

On December 18–19, 2023, IOST Hong Kong’s Head, Carter, was invited to attend the “Web3 FutureFi 2023 Summit” co-hosted by IOST, Cyberport, Central Research, Hong Kong 01, Techub News, Cointime, and other organizations

He engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges with other representatives on the topic of “Web3 Gaming — Igniting the Next Cryptocurrency Bull Market.”

On December 24–25, 2023, IOST hosted a global Christmas event.

IOST extended warm wishes to all iostians for a joyful Christmas celebration. As we embraced the spirit of the season, an opportunity to give some Christmas presents — a limited edition NFT — Christmas PoBee and a share of a pool of IOST rewards.

In the future, IOST will continue to explore possibilities in the multidimensional Web3 era, accelerate the development of the global ecosystem, and strive to create an N+1 blockchain innovation alliance. They will further refine their strategic plans for blockchain, including NFTs, DeFi, AI, metaverse, Web3, and RWA.
