NFT Marketplace Launches on IOST, Sets to Implement IP from Entertainment Games
In Jan 2021, IOST partners with the experienced Japanese blockchain game developer and consultancy company- Platinum Egg team to officially open TokenLink NFT Marketplace for IOST gamers to trade NFTs and game items. This was followed by the CROSSLINK game release in Sep 2020 which attracted more than 140,000 downloads to date.
IOST CONTINUES TO DELIVER
IOST is set to tap on the NFT market and launched its NFT standard in April 2020. IOST is not the first blockchain that offered NFT standard. This honor goes to Ethereum which is also the first blockchain with smart contract features. However, Ethereum is riddled with technical challenges that make it unsuitable for mass adoption. These issues include high transaction fees and excessively high energy costs. All of which does not affect the IOST NFT standard.
This was made possible through its unique consensus mechanism, Proof-of-Believability, which enables it to process 8,000 transactions per second (TPS). It also features feeless-like transaction models through its unique resource allocation model similar to EOS but more efficient, without volatility since resources are not tradeable. Furthermore, it does not use miners to validate and confirm transactions making it more power-efficient.

IOST Blockchain Acknowledged by Japan Blockchain Gaming Companies
The compatibility of the IOST blockchain as a gaming platform has been proven since its mainnet launch in 2019. On CEDEC2019- Japan’s largest Developer Conference for Entertainment Games, two companies developing games using blockchain technology spoke about the advantages of the IOST blockchain platform.
NFT as Liquid Intellectual Property
The IOST blockchain has been selected for demonstrations of electricity peer-to-peer trading and medical data sharing with user privacy in mind (manage your own data) in Japan. As a layer 1 blockchain, our NFTs can also be used in a variety of ways, from entertainment and gaming to public services, and digital assets such as NFTs can be expected to serve as liquid intellectual property (IP) in secondary markets. Platinum Egg, a company that develops and consults on games using blockchain technology, has launched “TOKEN LINK (Beta version)”, an NFT (non-substitutable token) marketplace using IRC-722, one of the token standards of the IOST public chain.
CROSSLINK, a GPS linked strategy game developed by Platinum Egg, has been downloaded more than 140,000 times since its release in September 2020. In the game, the user becomes a hero and fights against extraterrestrial life, earning rewards based on the contribution of his or her activities, and by linking the game to GPS, the game hero can determine his or her actions in the virtual world and head for the destination while fighting.
TOKEN LINK- NFT Marketplace for Gaming Accessories
IRC-722, the token standard on the IOST blockchain, makes an in-game item a unique and valuable digital asset. Now IOST tokens can be used to purchase in-game items in conjunction with an IOST mainnet account. In the same way, land in the virtual world can also be bought and sold through NFT. The NFT of blockchain technology makes it possible to create digital characters in which each token (IRC-722) contains a different value.

Token Link will only support token items for cross-linked games at the beginning of its release but will support other NFTs on the IOST blockchain in the future.
