“Web3 Night #12: Learning the Latest Web3 Research & Solutions from Practitioners” was held at Centrum, a Web3 coworking space in Shibuya, Tokyo. The event was co-hosted by Cabinet, HashKey DX, and IOST. During the event, Dr. Takahashi from Hitachi’s Research & Development Group, Mr. Li from HashKey DX, and Mr. Ishida, the organizer of THE WEB3 NIGHT from Cabinet, presented the latest initiatives in Web3 services.

This event was sponsored by two Japanese sake breweries, SAKE HUNDRED and Wakatsuru Shuzo. Participants kicked off the event with a toast using SAKE HUNDRED’s flagship product, “百光 別誂.”

From the IOST community, STIR, a staking service provider, took the stage. Staking is one of the popular services in the Japanese crypto asset market. STIR, which offers staking services for IOST, ranks as the 8th largest validator node globally for IOST (with OKCoin Japan holding the top position).

Cabinet is a platform service for building applications. These node platform services, represented by companies like Alchemy, offer developers optimized infrastructure and tools, reducing the effort and cost of operating and maintaining their own nodes, and increasing efficiency.

Dr. Takahashi from Hitachi’s Research & Development Group discussed the advantages and applications of Hitachi’s developed Public Biometric Infrastructure (PBI) and Web3. PBI generates secret keys using biometric information directly without storing any biometric or secret information on the device. After authentication, this information is completely erased from the device. This method allows authentication without storing biometric data, by only saving a securely transformed one-way PBI public key. Additionally, Dr. Takahashi explained that PBI addresses the key management issues inherent in traditional cryptographic systems and is well-suited for managing keys in Web3 wallets.

Mr. Li from HashKey DX introduced HashKey’s ABL (Asset-Based Lending) solution. In ABL, real-world biological assets are linked to blockchain tokens (BAV), allowing their value to be dynamically measured and used as financial assets. Specifically, this method combines IoT and AI technologies to monitor and manage these biological assets. By doing so, it enhances the reliability and transparency of the assets, providing an efficient lending mechanism.

During the panel discussion, practical applications of Web3 technology, as well as challenges related to usability and mass adoption, were discussed. Specific answers and advice were provided in response to questions from the participants, making it a highly valuable session. At the end, in homage to the Japanese sake sponsors of the event, the panelists shared their thoughts and admiration for Japanese sake.

During the networking session, participants discussed Web3 while enjoying “itonami” from Wakatsuru Shuzo, which is made using lactic acid bacteria derived from Toyama’s traditional fermented food “かぶら寿し.”

The event concluded on a high note, with participants leaving inspired and more knowledgeable about the practical applications and future potential of Web3 technologies. The engaging discussions and valuable networking opportunities highlighted the growing interest and innovation in this space. We look forward to seeing how these insights and connections will shape the future of Web3.

About IOST

High fees and slower transaction times on the Ethereum network have left the door open for new solutions to emerge, and IOST is one such project that has been gaining traction since its mainnet launch in 2019.

Backed by significant financial and VC firms such as Sequoia, Matrix, and ZhenFund, IOST is a pioneering decentralized, high-throughput, gas-efficient Proof-of-Believability-powered smart contract platform built to tackle the scalability trilemma once and for all. For this, the concluding ranking from China’s CCID ranked IOST as the best blockchain platform under Basic Technology, better than Ethereum, EOS, and every other smart-contracting platform evaluated by the agency. This is a testament to the quality and ability to roll out a better, innovative product and reflects our genuine desire to be the best in the sphere.

Being one of the public chain leaders in adoption, performance, and utility, IOST remains committed to our mission to unleash the power of blockchain. IOST currently has an ever-expanding 500,000 members community in over 20 countries, over 400 nodes, a top-tier staking ecosystem, and symbiotic relationships with corporations dotted worldwide.
