IoT Fest Bratislava — 10 June 2017

IoT creators, an initiative proudly supported by hub:raum powered by T-Mobile, jumped at the chance to organize a cycle of IoT Fests in CEE countries (Poland -> Slovakia -> Romania -> Croatia -> Poland).

On the 10th of June, IoT enthusiasts from Slovakia met at IoT Fest Bratislava in Binarium. The event was supported by Slovak Telekom and IoT Bratislavaan informal Slovak community of professionals discovering and promoting solutions and technologies from the world of the Internet of Things in the CEE region.

There were over 100 participants: IoT specialists, startups, companies, IT students, hardware geeks and everyone who wanted to learn more about the Internet of Things and connectivity. The IoT Fest was a good place to exchange experiences, knowledge and visions about the technological and business development of the Internet of Things in Slovakia.

The event was divided into three parts (conference, showroom and workshops) which gave the participants a unique chance to learn about the Internet of Things from different perspectives. The presentations gave answers to the difficult questions that IoT companies and startups ask every day. The speakers from MAKERS s.r.o., Slovak Telekom and Silkroad 4.0 spoke about the challenges and opportunities of the IoT. GOSPACE Tech spoke how they shifted from Space Science to Parking Space. Citadelo presented the security challenges posed by IoT connected devices. And BeeAnd.me — alumni from the last edition of WARP by hub:raum — explained how to create an IoT prototype on the basis of their smart bee monitoring solution.

One of the most important topics at the IoT Fest in Bratislava was NarrowBand Internet of Things — the new way of communicating with “things”. The potential of the NB-IoT is huge. That’s why hub:raum has recently launched the new WARP NB-IoT program which gives a great opportunity to implement an NB-IoT solution together with DT customers.

Another important part of the IoT Fest was the Showroom for IoT project. Here, the participants could literally “touch” the Internet of Things solutions and speak with their makers. The exhibitors were the companies both supported by the hub:raum, and the external ones. The perfect addition to the conference and showroom parts were IoT workshops which gave the possibility to gain knowledge and practice in the field of the Internet of Things.
