IoTeX Published DKSAP-IoT in ICBC 2018, Reduces Computational Overhead By 50% Compared to DKSAP

Hello supporters — the month of June will be full of technology unveilings from IoTeX, and we are happy to kick off with some exciting news from the IoTeX R&D team!

Our latest academic paper, “Faster Dual-key Stealth Address for Blockchain-based Internet of Things Systems (icbc2018–9009)” has been accepted and published by one of the world’s most reputable academic blockchain conferences, the 2018 International Conference on Blockchain (ICBC 2018)! This paper describes IoTeX’s enhancements to the already state-of-the-art dual-key stealth address protocol (DKSAP), which is used by projects such as Monero. IoTeX’s new protocol (named “DKSAP-IoT”) is an IoT-friendly adaptation of DKSAP, which reduces computational overhead by 50% compared to DKSAP, thereby paving the way for its application to blockchain-based IoT systems.

Dr. Xinxin Fan, IoTeX’s Head of Cryptography and author of this academic paper, will be sharing this research and delivering a keynote speech in Seattle, Washington (USA) on June 28, 2018, as part of the International Conference on Blockchain held throughout the last week of June.

ICBC Schedule

The International Conference on Blockchain is organized to promote research and application innovations around the world. The proceedings of the conference will be published in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) by Springer International Publishing AG. The International Conference on Blockchain covers state-of-the-art technologies and best practices of blockchain, as well as emerging standards and research topics which would define the future of blockchain.

Dr. Xinxin Fan

Dr. Xinxin Fan is the Head of Cryptography at IoTeX. He was a senior research scientist of Security and Privacy Group at Bosch Research Technology Center North America, where he defined and conducted innovative research on security and privacy for Internet of things, machine-to-machine communication, cloud computing, multi-party computation, data mining, cryptocurrency and blockchain. He was the core team member for the design, analysis and implementation of Bosch’s searchable encryption solution and secure multi-party computation platform.

Prior to joining Bosch Research and Technology Center, Dr. Xinxin Fan was a research associate at the University of Waterloo and the project manager for Ontario Research Fund — Research Excellence (ORF-RE) project titled “Privacy and Security in Mobile Ad Hoc Communications and Embedded Systems”. Dr. Xinxin Fan received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 2010. He has published 40+ referred research papers in top-tier journals, conferences and workshops in the areas of cryptography and information security and is an inventor of 15 patent filings for innovative information security technologies. He is also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)2.

The month of May was exciting for IoTeX — we held our second charity program, listed the IOTX token on three of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, and expanded our community greatly. Although this progress is great, we are excited to switch gears in June to focus on technology, which will always be the top priority for IoTeX. We will kick off this month at the International Conference on Blockchain, and will also be releasing a yellow paper on our Roll-DPoS consensus mechanism and finish the month with the release of our Testnet alpha.
