Our vision for a better world

200 years ago, 90% of the U.S. population farmed. With modern agricultural technology, now only 2% of the population is needed to produce enough food.

100 years ago, 10% of US infants died before they reached the age of 1. Great advances in clinical medicine plus other improvements have brought infant mortality down to just 0.7%, and life expectancy has increased by 30 years.

20 years ago, 43% of the citizens in the developing world lived in extreme poverty, earning under $1.25 per day. Technology-fueled economic growth in developing countries has cut that number in half to 21%.

Today, we still have a long way to go. Many of these changes have only happened in developed countries. Worldwide, 1 in 9 people still don’t have enough food to live a healthy active life, infant mortality in developing countries remains high, and over 1 billion people remain in extreme poverty.

The Role of Technology

Technology is not inherently good or evil. Technology can be an effective tool for progress and freedom — or a terrifying instrument of destruction and control.

The Internet of Things is going to have a profound impact on our world.

Automation, AI, and networks of sensors will allow us to dramatically improve output and efficiency, providing incredible abundance and wealth. But will this abundance and wealth be used to eliminate world poverty and hunger or will it concentrate power in the hands of the select few?

Connected video-cameras, computer vision, and cheap connectivity will allow us to easily monitor vast areas. This monitoring will make law enforcement extremely effective at stopping crime and keeping us safe. But will our right to privacy be respected by those with the ability to see everything at all times?

Vision for a Better World

IoT For All is a media property dedicated to maintaining the human connection in an increasingly connected world. At Leverege, we firmly believe that the Internet of Things can and should be a powerful force for good. We want to use IoT to build a better world for us, for our children, and for everyone else.

Here on this Medium publication, we share content from our main site IoT-For-All.com.

In this publication you will find four categories:
