ENS (Ethereum Naming Service) and IoTrust are teaming up. The D’CENT Biometric Wallet will become the first ENS-integrated hardware wallet as a consequence of this collaboration. This article explains the significance of the partnership in greater detail.

ENS (Ethereum Name Service) works like today’s commonly known DNS (Domain Name Services). If DNS is the phonebook of the Internet, ENS hopes to be the phonebook of cryptocurrencies at the very minimum.

The ENS name service is suitable for both blockchain and non-blockchain applications. These services are invaluable aids for remembering long and easily forgotten addresses.

With ENS, the long Ethereum wallet addresses presently used (like 0x3F436A8906C8f554d1B169Bf5D64271eB2D32) are related to memorable and meaningful names (like dcentwallets.eth).

Address Abstraction

Like IP addresses, Ethereum wallet addresses will be completely abstracted away with the help of ENS. An ENS-enabled future cannot happen through the efforts of ENS alone. Consequently, IoTrust is doing its part to usher in this new and exciting future.

In keeping with the philosophy of the blockchain, ENS is itself decentralized. ENS will officially launch its highly-anticipated solution at the end of September and demonstrate their service at the Ethereum Foundation’s Devcon 5 conference in Osaka, Japan, in October.

IoTrust wants to make it safer to manage digital assets. After the official announcement of the collaboration, Sangsu Baek, the CEO of IoTrust said, “We anticipate D’CENT Biometric Wallet owners embracing this technology. With ENS, they will be able to make transactions more conveniently. No longer will they be encumbered by the existing copy and paste method. Instead of copying and pasting Ethereum wallet addresses, and having to check multiple times, they can now transact more quickly and safely.”

About ENS

ENS is a blockchain agnostic name service provided by True Names LTD. It supports Tor .onion address, IPFS hashes, and a plethora of other name resolution services. ENS is built on the Ethereum Network.

About IoTrust

IoTrust was founded in January 2017 by eight veteran technologists averaging two decades of experience in deeply embedded security software and systems. These founders are the visionaries that pioneered the world’s first dual-interface USIM smart card.

Now the team has turned its focus toward designing and developing über convenient hardware wallets and other cold storage solutions. The D’CENT Biometric Wallet is their most iconic product.
