D’CENT Biometric Wallet Firmware Update

We have been hard at work on improving our cold storage technology. These technology advancements are reflected in our new firmware. Consequently, we are thrilled to announce release 1.3.0.78c9 of the D’CENT Biometric Wallet firmware. This article outlines the advancements and the procedure for updating the firmware of your D’CENT Biometric Wallet.

The D’CENT Biometric Wallet is now faster and able to manage a great number of digital assets. We suggest updating the firmware of your D’CENT Biometric Wallet at your earliest convenience to experience these new benefits. The firmware upgrade will allow you to enjoy the latest improvements to our hardware wallet technology.

These advances are outlined below:

Improved User Experience

Firmware version 1.3.0.78c9 speeds up the transition between screens on the D’CENT Biometric Wallet. This has been achieved by enhancing synchronization between the mobile phone application and the hardware wallet.

Improved Asset Coverage

The firmware update expands digital asset coverage. After installing the firmware update, your D’CENT Biometric Wallet will include support for Ripple, RSK and tokens based on RRC-20 standard.

The firmware on your D’CENT Biometric Wallet must be upgraded to take advantage of these improvements. To that end, we have prepared written instructions and a video to help you transition to version 1.3.0.78c9 of the D’CENT Biometric Wallet firmware.

Before starting the upgrade process please confirm that you have your 24-word recovery phrase available. [1]

Firmware Upgrade Instructions

To update the firmware, please follow these steps:

1. Download our D’CENT Bridge software. Install it. [2]
2. Connect your wallet device to your PC using a USB cable. [3]
3. Authenticate and unlock your D’CENT Biometric Wallet after powering on your device.
4. Click on “Check device”
5. Click on “Update to version 1.3.0.78c9”
6. Disconnect your device and power it off.
7. Hold down the power button and the “OK” button simultaneously for 10 seconds. Release the buttons once the bootloader is displayed.
8. Reconnect your device.
9. The update process will begin after you click the button “Update to version 1.3.0.78c9”. The website will display the progress of the update while your D’CENT device displays Bootloader, Update, and Processing screen. Your device will have successfully updated its firmware once the web page displays “Firmware update is complete and 100%”.

Firmware Version Verification

You should verify that the correct firmware version (or kernel version) has been applied to your D’CENT Biometric Wallet. To do this, use the device menu to navigate to Settings — > Device Info — > Kernel Version. The following information should be displayed “1.3.0.78c9”.

[1] You should have written down a 24-word recovery phrase on the Recovery Sheet provided when you set up your device. This 24–word recovery phrase allows you to restore your private keys on another D’CENT Biometric Wallet to recover access to your digital assets. Please keep it handy.

[2] To perform the upgrade, the D’CENT Bridge software must be installed on your machine (Mac or PC). The software is available for download at our Firmware Update page. Please visit https://fwu.dcentwallet.com/ to download the D’CENT Bridge software. Install it and refresh the page.

[3] We recommend using the in-box USB charging cable that came with your D’CENT Biometric Wallet, not a third-party USB cable.
