IOV is Launching its Mainnet Blockchain🚀

On December 2017, we released our first Technical White Paper in relation to domain-name service for the blockchain.

After months of intense development, we will be launching our mainnet today at 5PM !

Since the very beginning, we have been consistently expressing the same purpose: We are on a mission to give everyone an equal access to the world’s values.

This, in order to facilitate the adoption of the blockchain, where addresses in blockchain are being turned into easy-to-remember addresses.

What we are about to release today :

• October 10th, 2019 @ 5PM : The IOV Name service Mainnet, a blockchain dedicated to translate human-readable addresses into a list of crypto-addresses

Also:

• An SDK called Weave, an open-source and free for all to build Blockchain Applications on top of Tendermint
• IOV-core, a multichain library to build chrome extension
• Neuma, a chrome extension
• A Web Wallet and a Hardware Ledger Application for the IOV Name Service

We designed a framework to link the Token Economics and Adoption of names in the Blockchain.

IOV is now focusing on the development of the most interoperable, multi-chain and user-centric Name Service for the blockchain. It is called Starname and we are pre-registering addresses: https://www.starname.network/.

As an IOV token holder, you will receive your tokens on the addresses you created.

You can also register a starname like thisistheday*iov (at launch, all the starnames will end with *iov). You can also send your token to another address.

At launch, all token holders and validators will be qualified for Deposit Reward. By locking your token in a deposit account, you will receive some share of the reward, in proportion to your holding amount of Tokens and deposit rate. Calculation details are in this medium post.

What’s coming soon

• Starname available on the IOV Name Service (not only *iov)
• Governing Board to be opened to 7 people in order to monitor the economic parameters of the IOV Name Service. Currently, the IOV ledger application allows to send IOV tokens between users. However more transaction types are required for the Governing Board.
• IOV Ledger App to be published on the Ledger Live store
• Block-explorers from IOV and partners
• Integration of IOV Name Service with Mobile Wallets to come. The first integration scheduled is Cosmostation.
• On-Chain Reward Module : At launch, the Reward distribution will be done off-chain. We are planning to have reward module on-chain for our validators and stakeholder during Q4.
• Pre-registration *Starnames! Website launch: For now, you will only be able to declare your interest. However, we will open the pre-registration to Cosmos Holders this month so any Atom holder can pre-register a *starname. (https://www.starname.network/)

Security

Launching a blockchain is definitely very exciting for an organization, developers, and the community. It is also the moment where malicious actors are trying to operate.

We highly recommend that you follow these rules:

• Never share your 12 words with anyone. The only person who should use them is you.
• Always download software from an IOV official source.
• Be very careful with attachments on emails or potential link to a website coming from a suspicious email.
• Enable 2-factor authentication to get access to all of your accounts.
• Be skeptical about advice on IOV if not coming from an official source.
• Whenever you send a transaction, always verify twice before clicking the send button.
