The latest Starname testnet successfully demonstrates IBC transfers to/from the Cosmos Hub

IBC works!

Testnet tokens were transferred from the Starname (IOV) IBC-enabled testnet (stargatenet) to the Cosmos Hub (cosmoshub-4) and back. The roundtrip demonstrates that Starname is ready to join the #IBCGang in time to make the premier of the Gravity DEX.

Call To Action

The unbonding (undelegating) time on the Starname (IOV) mainnet is currently 3 days. It must be increased to 21 days in order to enable IBC on the new mainnet. An on-chain proposal to increase the unbonding time must pass before the state of the current mainnet can be exported and upgraded to the stargate version of cosmos-sdk. Vote yes on Proposal 6 (until June 23rd 11h20am CET) to begin the process of migrating to an IBC-enabled chain.

Timing

If Proposal 6 passes then the mainnet migration to the IBC-enabled chain will happen on June 29th, 2021 at around 10am Central European Summer Time. The current mainnet will be halted at a to-be-determined block height close to 10am. The the halt height will be specified by another proposal. Validators will ensure the integrity of the exported chain state and then when more than two thirds of the voting power is online the new mainnet will start.

Summary

The migration to the stargate version of the cosmos-sdk is no small task. Starname is proud to be among the first in the Cosmos ecosystem to be IBC-enabled. Thanks to the former employees of IOV SAS and all the open-source developers in the Cosmos community!
