Human Talent: The Foundation of IOV

The technical features and complexities of blockchain usually dominate our conversations about it: having a trustless system may naturally remove some focus from its human actors, especially after the building work is finished. However, the most important component of a system that is still in core development is the team that is bringing it to life.

We are therefore delighted to announce that our team has grown extensively in the last three months: from our small team of six people at the beginning of April, now we have expanded into a team of more than twenty very talented individuals. And our growth is just getting started.

People are the foundation of every organization. For any company to succeed, it must leverage the unique human talent and optimize the synergies among its team members. As we started receiving contributions in the first pre-sale round of our ICO, we immediately worked on building a team of individuals whose skills and energy are up to the task of realizing IOV’s grand vision.

What holds in common among teammates whose roles and talents vary as much as those of an outstanding senior engineer, a financial director, an artistic mind, and a nomadic entrepreneur? Across our diverse roster, we hold a foundational belief in something bigger than all of us. We believe in the vision of the future that we are creating by working together, as a team united in that vision. It’s an aspiration to build something that has never been seen before, and that can add value to people’s lives. Such aspiration provides us with a purpose and fuels the passion that keeps us focused in the face of obstacles, difficulties and change. When inner values and purpose are aligned within the team, that’s when the magic happens. This is the culture we are building at IOV.

Personalities and philosophies will naturally be reflected in the way that the company operates. We are creating a culture of people that are visionary and competent, but also positive and supportive.

Now IOV is spread among four main departments. The IOV Operations team is run by our COO, Benjamin Simatos. He ensures high levels of efficiency within IOV as he handles operational tasks such as finance, tax and compliance issues, and he also functions as a key support in areas such as economics and token design, strategic planning, investor relations, and HR.

The IOV connect team has been purposed for increasing awareness and adoption of the tools and technology IOV builds. Our CEO, Karim Ganem, is setting up offices in Paris, New York and Barcelona along with a solid team of marketing and business professionals who are working together on helping IOV scale globally through evangelization, education, and partnerships.

Our CIO and co-founder, Antoine Herzog, runs the IOV innovation team. This team’s mission is to explore, research, identify, and propose new product features and to deliver prototypes for the next versions and iterations of IOV production tools. We strongly believe that as the company continues to grow, we should never stop innovating.

Finally, of course, the IOV DEV department is run by our CTO, Isabella Dell. These are the staff that will build and deliver IOV’s production-grade software. Within this department, we have four main teams of developers. The “Backend Team” is building the infrastructure to deploy our tendermint-based chain, and also producing the first BCP demo and its main functionalities. The “Front-end Team” is working on the IOV wallet and its crucial atomic swap feature. The “Architecture and Design Team” focuses on creating the specifications for the BCP and BNS, as well as building the interoperability layer that communicates with other blockchains. The “Research Team” is putting the needed efforts into creating a standard for an ed25519, public-key signature system to use the BIP44 wallet. These four teams are working closely together to deliver IOV tools and technology to the public in the shortest time possible.

IOV is very proud and thrilled to watch our staff growing and working together, in both an individual sense and an organizational one. This growth could not have happened without the help of our contributors. We therefore thank everyone who contributed to our project, for helping us gather our greatest asset: the human talent.
