Pestalozzi Summer School!

I’ve been to the Lansdesakademie fur Fortbildung und Personalenwicklung and Schulen in Bad Wildbad (DE) for ten intense days empowering my professional skills participating to the CoE Pestalozzi Programme:

Pestalozzi Programme

The Council of Europe, with Pestalozzi Programme, delivers effective support for education professionals and schools, with the challenge of ensuring quality education by training teachers to learn and grow together, for a better and more equitable world, based on the European values: respect for human dignity, freedom (including freedom of expression), democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights.

The Summer School is the right place to mobilise the creative and innovative resources of everyone to be able to face the challenges of the 21st century.

Diversity of Learners & Diversity of Teachers

The Pestalozzi Programme Summer School 2016, under the title Diversity of learners and diversity of teachers – learning together for a better future focuses on how to live and learn together in diversity for the best of all in a more just and democratic society based on the respect for human rights and human dignity, aims to consider the implications on the day to day practice of education offering practical experiences and mindful reflections on how teachers can best make use of the diversity present in their classrooms, addressing, amongst others, the following central aspects:

  • diversity as an opportunity for all
  • inclusive schools for inclusive societies
  • what do you bring with you? How to get involved
  • learning and growing together
  • understanding diversity and participating in social, cultural, political and educational life
  • diversity as an opportunity for putting the learners at the centre and understanding the positive relations between “community-school-teachers-learners”
  • the pedagogical approach of the Pestalozzi Programme that fosters learning-by-doing, cooperative learning, etc.

My personalised learning curriculum, chosen from a wide range of offers, allowed me to experience common activities throughout the eight days work with the others participants, now friends, organised as whole group & collaborative teams to learn together and to exchange ideas and experience, within engaging training: open space, socratic walks, daily reflection groups, soap boxes, public debates, excursions and a gorgeous social programme.

All this preceded and followed by intense exchanges in #PestalozziSummerS [official hashtag #sumsch16] online community!

So, the core of my learning experience, has been receiving insights, suggestions, and communicating + sharing… what?
