IPEVO’s Mirror-Cam is a small, but mighty, hardware device that enhances communication and learning for both students and professionals. With a portable, compact, and intuitive design, the Mirror-Cam instantly transforms built-in webcams into a document camera that streams everything and anything placed over one’s keyboard. Mirror-Cam’s novel design provides an overhead view of a showcase space where students can take notes, create a sketch, solve a math problem, give explanations, do read-aloud, and many other things. Working professionals can easily show and amend work products in real-time by simply placing their work over their keyboard. The Mirror-Cam is also packaged with a whiteboard that fits perfectly over any laptop’s keyboard. And with flexible flaps, a small (pocket-size!), and lightweight design, the Mirror-Cam fits a wide range of laptops & Chromebooks and can be transported anywhere.

Best of all, the Mirror-Cam integrates seamlessly with third-party communication apps like Zoom, Google Meets, Skype, Microsoft Teams, Webex, and Go to Meeting. Used in conjunction with IPEVO’s free Visualizer software, the Mirror-Cam provides a novel and inexpensive
way (only $39.99 for a 6 pack) to share physical materials or documents during a video chat.

Below is a step-by-step guide explaining how to use the Mirror-Cam to share physical materials and documents within a video conference app, including instructions on how to resolve the Mirrored-image problem.

List of Materials Needed

  • An IPEVO Mirror-Cam
  • A laptop or Chromebook with a built-in webcam
  • The free, IPEVO Visualizer software
  • A third party communication software such as Zoom

Step-by-step guide

Here are the steps to setting up your IPEVO Mirror-Cam for screen sharing in third party apps.

  1. Attach the Mirror-Cam to your laptop or Chromebook’s webcam. Watch this video for a live demonstration of the easy setup, or refer to these instructions.
  2. Download the IPEVO Visualizer software onto your computer. Then, launch the software. Next, select your computer’s webcam as the camera source.
  3. Place your material under the document camera and check its live image in the IPEVO Visualizer software.
  4. Use the IPEVO Visualizer software’s Mirror Image feature under the “Rotate” function to fix the mirrored image. Documents are then shown on the screen exactly the way the user sees them.

5. You can use the Vertical Keystone Correction function to digitally align the projected image at the top or bottom.

6. When you’re ready, launch Zoom, Google Meets, Skype, Microsoft Teams, Webex, or Go to Meeting on your computer to start or join a meeting.

7. Look for the “Share Screen” button in the third-party app’s meeting window.

8. Select the “Visualizer” window. Note that you may need to select the “Share application Window” in the third-party software you are using.
