I, beside the void,
— Empty and mirroring the passed night sky,
Am staring anywhere

I, atop dewed grass
Outlining the hollow ring,
Can kneel over the pit unblinking

Yet every so often, there chirps
A bird in search of a mate

And I am reminded of an old friend
Who had been calling my name for
— Quite some time

And then I, trembling from my post,
Tear from the ground a slippery
Green halm: a gift
— To the sour cavity

So that I may return to the buried stars.
