A Song in the Air

a song in the air
rides the atmosphere
like the birds with wings
of destination

following the path to home
landing softly with purpose
to light up a heart or a face
with wonder and love
maybe happy tears too

a song that rests one’s
head and shoulders
bringing back memories of old
taking one to a new place
where troubles are few or
no longer there
whisked away by the notes
of a never ending melody
where the heart and one’s head
cherishes anew in the window
of wonder, in the spirit of freedom,
on the wings of love.
