He opened her veil and found her face
tears streaming down like monsoon rain
comforting her in a warm embrace as her tears fell to his shirt pocket

He opened the pocket and removed a handkerchief
which oozed of a scent that brought memories flooding back
delicately he wiped the tears from her eyes

He opened her eyes and found her soul
lacerated with anguish
still torn from her father’s demise
He promised he would be here today
He promised her lifelong advice

He opened a new chapter and took her hand in his
your daddy is rite here my love
the handkerchief is his
and with that, he parted her lips
warming them with solemn kiss…

He said to her in his gentle tone
I’ll be your soldier, I’ll be your rock
your paradise on earth
till my heartbeat stops
