I Remember Nothing Else of the Moment
A Cascade Poem
Ill-fitted words succumb to the feelings,
tears dig deeper into the pillow
like a burrow could camouflage the pain.
I remember nothing else of the moment.
Louder than the crickets outside,
loneliness sings of the looming winter.
Its song, lost thereafter, unheard,
ill-fitted words succumb to the feelings.
Face buried in the splashes of sorrow
resembled a decrepit treasure,
empty of gold, full of pebbles;
tears dig deeper into the pillow.
Heart sighed between the hiccups,
consumed and cold within the sheets.
It wished for the deepest pit
like a burrow could camouflage the pain.
There was no safety within the walls,
the arms clasped over the body fell.
a broken frame lay inert,
I remember nothing else of the moment.
